Christmas Special Competition Information
A Christmas List (Anagram)

I think it's fair to say that a good deal of fun was had with his competition! Most entrants seemed to appreciate the festive deviation from normal cluing and most judges enjoyed the different challenge. Whether you loved or hated it, this type of challenge will not pop up very often…I think John and I expected, and had our fill of pizza and jazz, so kudos to those that managed to utilise those zeds differently. I particularly enjoyed the comment – related to clue 16 – that 'we need to see the pictures!'. Sadly our camera was broken in the melee that ensued during the Twister competition at the CCCWC Christmas party. Never mind, there's always next year…I remember, back in the day when I used to compete and judge in the competition myself that I would often try and guess the authors of particular clues…I don't think I ever once got it right! So it proved in this exercise; nobody correctly guessed that clue 34 was John's…

Congratulations to Bhalchandra, whose list was chosen as the best, no space to mention the rest with Annual Result to follow…

ANNUAL RESULT
Huge congratulations to Steve Randall for his superbly consistent performance throughout the year – well done Steve!
John Tozer kept pushing Steve right to the end, but was 6 pts back in 2nd – well done JT for another excellent year!
Tom Borland, Andy Smith, Neil Mondal and Satyen Nabar were some way back in filling the rest of the podium places, but the slate is clean for 2021! Good luck to all!

Voting Information

Voting is open until Midnight UK time on Sunday 17th January.

Firstly, as you will have seen, John Tozer kindly added an anagram checker to the entry page and we can confirm that all anagrams entered are accurate – so you can concentrate on your voting, with confidence!

Although John maintains the CCCWC website, he is never aware of the clue challenges I set until the same time as the rest of you, consequently he is still able to compete on a fair basis. As always he has entered his own offering for this Christmas list, so as a sideline, you are invited to guess which is John's entry. I will be offering a modest extra prize for a winner picked from those that guess correctly. Other than that please vote as per normal…

Please award FIVE points maximum to the clue you judge best: FOUR points for second, THREE for third, TWO for fourth, down to ONE point for fifth; but otherwise you may distribute your votes as you see fit including ½ marks for split voting – as long as you award no more than 15 points IN TOTAL and no more than 5 points to any one clue…

…and of course you may NOT VOTE for your own clue!

COMMENTS:

Your comments in general and on individual clues, however much or little you write, are always most welcome! Please remember that if any particular clue or clues do not find favour with you, it is more helpful to offer constructive criticism – many of our members are keen to learn and hone their clue writing skills through our competition – feedback ma

Entry Information

ROBERT AND JOHN'S CHRISTMAS STOCKING PREZZIE LIST (42 letters)

We have added an anagram checker to the Clue Entry page. Please check your anagram for accuracy before submitting, as the organisers will disqualify faulty ones!

Long-standing competitors will know that I always try and come up with something a little different to entertain you over the festive period.

Although I choose the challenges for you, our webmeister John Tozer does all the HARD work behind the scenes with the fantastic interface! So I thought you may like to show your appreciation by writing a Christmas list for John and myself, using the 42 letters in the phrase at the top: ROBERT AND JOHN'S CHRISTMAS STOCKING PREZZIE LIST.

Your list may contain as many items as you wish, but to give you a few tips, it MUST include:
SOMETHING TO DRINK (not necessarily alcoholic as one of us is driving)
SOMETHING TO EAT
SOMETHING TO WEAR

Other than that you have free rein to be as festive, amusing, quirky, topical or simply prosaic as you wish!

PLEASE ENTER YOUR LIST ON ONE LINE, SEPARATED BY COMMAS, FOR EASE OF READING IN THE JUDGING, AND PLEASE CHECK YOUR ANAGRAM CAREFULLY FOR ACCURACY AS FAULTY ONES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED!

Thank you all, have fun – and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
