A clear winner this month with what I thought was a quite brilliant hidden clue – perhaps even surpassing Brian Greer's famous one for BATH AND WELLS – well done indeed Tom!
 
Understandably anagrams were to the fore, and back in second place Roslyn made her annual visit to the podium with a very neat example and a strong surface reading.
 
On the other hand, Dave P's anagram was at the very cheeky end of the scale! Well done for raising a hearty laugh Dave, taking third spot!
 
Congratulations to Tony Harker who achieved his first podium finish with another neat anagram, similar content to other clues, but this one snatched 4th position.
 
A tie for the final placing – nice to see David H back on the podium – another neat anagram – and well done to Martin for achieving credit with a clue that was NOT an anagram!

Please award FIVE points maximum to the clue you judge best: FOUR points for second, THREE for third, TWO for fourth, down to ONE point for fifth; but otherwise you may distribute your votes as you see fit including ½ marks for split voting – as long as you award no more than 15 points IN TOTAL and no more than 5 points to any one clue…

Your challenge for November is a STANDARD CRYPTIC clue to the phrase LOCK STOCK AND BARREL (4,5,3,6) by the closing date of MIDNIGHT GMT SUNDAY 29th NOVEMBER.

Remember that whilst you are composing (and pondering) your clue effort, the entry interface allows you to "Save but don't submit". But even if you "Submit this clue" you are still able to amend – or even retract – your entry right up until the end.
