Comments on the clue
1.Praiseworthy ambition to include so much but this becomes wordy and ponderous and is hardly a couplet.
2.convoluted and confusing
3.A great clue, but in the absence of true wordplay for the cryptic, seems a slightly easier way out. Can't see how 1st line is 'cryptic'
4.I would have liked some wordplay for Crossword. The monkey puzzle idea would have been lost on me without explanation
