A fabulous start to revitalised CCCWC! We amassed a grand total of no less that 49 voters which as far as I am aware is a record! Well done to you all, I think this shows what a great interface this is for voting.
 
The RELAUNCH of the CCCWC tempted last year's Annual Prize winner out of "retirement" – and he promptly shot to the top of the list! And look who made it into 2nd spot! Good to see that all the hard work expended on setting up the site has not affected his clue writing skills!
 
Well done to all those who made the list, and also to all that took part and made the first website-based competition such a resounding success!
 
Finally, thanks to all who have made COMMENTS on the clues, and of course many thanks once again to John Tozer for making the whole thing possible – BRAVO!

Voting Information

The new interface will for the most part guide you through the voting process, but to remind you:
 
Please award FIVE points maximum to the clue you judge best: FOUR points for second, THREE for third, TWO for fourth, down to ONE point for fifth; but otherwise you may distribute your votes as you see fit including ½ marks for split voting – as long as you award no more than 15 points IN TOTAL and no more than 5 points to any one clue.
 
- and of course you should NOT VOTE for your own clue!
 
COMMENTS:
 
The facility has been maintained for you to make COMMENTS if you so wish, but please bear in mind that any (adverse) COMMENTS you may care to make should be constructive. We are fortunate to have competitors with various levels of clue writing experience and those still learning the ropes would appreciate appropriate advice when they might stray from what you may regard as acceptable cluemanship! And even the best of us can err at times!

Entry Information

Your task for this month is a STANDARD CRYPTIC clue to RELAUNCH (8) by the closing date of SUNDAY 31st AUGUST.
 
Ultimately, you may submit only one clue, but with our new system you may save, change, delete, submit and resubmit to your heart's content before deciding on your final clue within the given time period.
 
As is usual, we regard The Chambers Dictionary (2003 edition) as our primary reference, but you may, if you wish, use another dictionary or source, BUT PLEASE STATE SO IN YOUR CLUE'S EXPLANATION. Remember there is a prize for our winner of a copy of Bradford's Crossword Solver's Dictionary kindly provided by Collins!
