An interesting and apposite word, but I felt a little wary about offering it to you what with its very precise definition, though it was handy that it serves as an adjective and a noun.
 
But I should have known better – you did us proud! An excellent crop of clues I think, resulting in a close run contest at the top of the leaderboard.
 
Many congratulations to RE Boot for topping the list with his version of the "I belt sixes" anagram – with convincing use of 366 for the surface reading.
 
Tough luck to Teyrnon who was just pipped on "sixes", but with his own clever cricketing definition for the clue word.
 
Allan came close behind in 3rd with a neat charade and another clever way of defining the word.
 
Don and Rob were not that far back in completing the podium and managing to find yet more clever wordplay and inventive definitions.
 
Well done to all – it bodes well for the rest of the year!

Please award up to a maximum of FIVE points to the clue you judge best: FOUR points for second, THREE for third, TWO for fourth, down to ONE point for fifth. If you wish to spread your points more widely, you may distribute your votes as you see fit including ½ marks for split voting – as long as you award no more than 15 points IN TOTAL and no more than 5 points to any one clue…
 
…and of course if you have yourself entered the competition, you may NOT VOTE for your own clue!

Your task for this month is a STANDARD CRYPTIC clue to BISSEXTILE(10) by the closing date of MIDNIGHT GMT WEDNESDAY 29th FEBRUARY.
 
Remember that whilst you are composing (and pondering) your clue effort, the entry interface allows you to "Save but don't submit". But even if you "Submit this clue" you are still able to amend – or even retract – your entry right up until the end.
