THE CROSSWORD CENTRE CLUE WRITING COMPETITION – OVERDUE FINAL COMP FOR 2024 and AN ANNOUNCEMENT
 
Huge apologies for the prolonged hiatus in the CCCWC. Problems with the web interface have prevented the launch of any new competitions, but for the meantime I have managed to get things going. Due to these problems Derek and I have discussed how to progress from hereon. There will be further information in the very near future, with the CCCWC adopting a different format.
 
In the meantime, I have decided to run a final competition for the year 2024. The web interface constructed by John Tozer calculates the scores for the Annual Competition automatically, so I am hoping that if we run a "December" competition then we will get a final tabulation for the year. Then very shortly we will kick off 2025 – as I said news to follow very soon. I realise that starting this competition so long after the event may feel a little flat for some of you, but please do try and give it a good go!…
 
…so the challenge for the belated December 2024 competition is a STANDARD CRYPTIC clue to ARRIVEDERCI (9) by the closing date of MIDNIGHT GMT WEDNESDAY 26th FFEBRUARY.

Remember that whilst you are composing (and pondering) your clue effort, the entry interface allows you to "Save but don't submit". But even if you "Submit this clue" you are still able to amend – or even retract – your entry right up until the end.
