Obviously I shall be expecting quite a few "little something extras" in my Christmas cards this year from those entrants who also take part in the Azed clue writing competitions…

…yes, a quite extraordinary coincidence in that the clue word was also chosen by Azed for his own June puzzle, so you had a good head start if you do the Azed as well! It will be interesting to see if any of our clues make it into the Azed list…

As far as our own competition goes, hearty congrats to Peter Milne for gaining top spot – what do we love? A little bit of smut in our favourite clues! Peter's second podium of the year.

Anthony Nannini bagged second place with a straightforward anagram; his first placing of the year.

Third place goes to Nathan Townsend, to follow up his win in February – a neat anag. &lit.

Fourth spot goes to Tom Borland for another neat anag. &lit (with a subtraction). Tom is a known Azed regular, so it will be interesting to see if his clue pops up there later this month.

Great to see Vinod Raman, one of our stalwarts, grab his first podium finish in nearly 12 years – persistence pays off – another neat subtractive anagram.

Thanks to everyone as ever – keep an eye on those Azed results next week, and good luck with this month's Right and Left clue!

Voting Information

Voting is open until Midnight UK time on Wednesday 16th June.

Please award FIVE points maximum to the clue you judge best: FOUR points for second, THREE for third, TWO for fourth, down to ONE point for fifth; but otherwise you may distribute your votes as you see fit including ½ marks for split voting – as long as you award no more than 15 points IN TOTAL and no more than 5 points to any one clue…

…and of course you may NOT VOTE for your own clue!

COMMENTS:

Your comments in general and on individual clues, however much or little you write, are always most welcome! Please remember that if any particular clue or clues do not find favour with you, it is more helpful to offer constructive criticism – many of our members are keen to learn and hone their clue writing skills through our competition – feedback may be useful for their future efforts!
