Another great turnout for the voting – thanks to all.
Very much a two horse race this month with Richard just nicking it and preventing JT from chalking up a double. Much closer for the minor placings with a new John taking 3rd place – welcome! Fourth and fifth spots are taken by two "new" regulars (hopefully!) showing their Azed pedigrees by grabbing podium finishes for the second month running. Well done to all!
Voting Information
The voting interface guides you through the process, but to remind you:
Please award FIVE points maximum to the clue you judge best: FOUR points for second, THREE for third, TWO for fourth, down to ONE point for fifth; but otherwise you may distribute your votes as you see fit including ½ marks for split voting – as long as you award no more than 15 points IN TOTAL and no more than 5 points to any one clue.
- and of course you should NOT VOTE for your own clue!
COMMENTS:
Your comments in general and on individual clues, however much or little you write, are always most welcome! Please remember that if any particular clue or clues do not find favour with you, it is more helpful to offer constructive criticism – many of our members are keen to learn and hone their clue writing skills through our competition – feedback may be useful for their future efforts!
Entry Information
As promised, your clue word for this month is a new addition to The Chambers Dictionary (2008 Edition) and it coincides with my annual effort to thwart the anagram fiends!
Your task for February is a STANDARD CRYPTIC clue to MCJOB(5) by the closing date of MIDNIGHT GMT WEDNESDAY 25th FEBRUARY.
Also as promised, for those who have not yet acquired the new Chambers, here is the definition given for the clue word:
McJob (sl) n an unskilled low-paid job. [McDonald's, a chain of fast-food restaurants]
As always you may only submit one clue, but with our new system you may save, change, delete, submit and resubmit to your heart's content before deciding on your final clue within the given time period.
Our primary reference is now The Chambers Dictionary (2008 edition), but you may, if you wish, use another dictionary or sauce, BUT PLEASE STATE SO IN YOUR CLUE'S EXPLANATION.
Remember there is a prize for our winner of a copy of Bradford's Crossword Solver's Dictionary kindly provided by Collins!
