About this clue type

From the preamble to Azed No. 43

The first volume of ‘A Supplement to the Oxford English Dictionary’, was recently published. Every word clued in this puzzle except one proper name (with an appropriate initial) appears in that volume. Some have already appeared in the OED but do so again because earlier entries needed to be modified or added to. The up-to-date meaning is clued in all such cases.

To complete their entries, competitors should fill the central unclued space with an eleven-letter word of their own coinage (also beginning with any letter from A to G) fitting any one of the six definitions given beiow the normal clues. Words will be judged and prizes awarded for wit and plausibility of ‘derivation'. A note explaining your word's derivation is advisable.
